this mixtape is made up of library records; music made by companies that mass produced sounds to pitch to movies, television and advertising studios as background or incidental music for their productions. these discs were never officially sold in shops but were sent out to folks as examples of what music was available to license for their film productions. often times these companies would hire amazing musicians / composers and give them free rein to come up with a wide variety of music to cover every emotion, situation or locale that a film might need. this gave the creators a lot of leeway with how their music could sound and in some cases very adventurous, groovy and forward thinking music was made. this mixtape is a peek into this world. remember to keep quiet and listen intently, this is a library after all.
