luv463 The Halcyon Daze Of Decontrol

The Halcyon Daze Of Decontrol

this 14th anniversary mixtape sets the controls for the heart of the bass. hearkening back to the halcyon days of Interchill all day after parties full of heady dubs and come down phatties. where there was always a steady flow of mid tempo grooves that kept us going, with an ample cushion of bass that guaranteed a soft landing when needed.

To Some Other Town

this is the story of a juvenile delinquent and his motorcycle who grew up riding ‘Merica raw dog on his boss hog. all he wanted was to be free so he lived hard, rode fast and died young. to some it may be a motorpsycho nightmare, but for him it was the American Dream.

Seeing Through It

we gotta see through all the lies. we gotta see through all the ads. we gotta see through all the greed. we gotta see through all the misinformation. we gotta see through all the narcissism. we gotta see through all the money. we gotta see through all the hate. seeing through it is not the hard part, the hard part is what to do about what you’ve seen because once seen it cannot be unseen.

Stay At Home Astronaut

after 30 years of djing and practicing the art of “traveling without moving” i have decided what i want to be when i grow up, a stay at home astronaut. trips will leave multiple times daily from Room Base Alpha nestled deep in the bosom of the Record Canyon. fourth dimensional travel is possible and encouraged! all you need to come along are open ears and an open mind, this stay at home astronaut will do the rest.

Everything Will Probably Be Alright

everything you know is wrong. everything good is bad and everything bad is good. also, nobody cares.
phew! isn’t that a relief! ‘cos if nothing really matters than all of the expectations and societal pressures we put ourselves under to constantly perform and produce also don’t matter! there’s a kind of freedom to this notion of “cheery nihilism”.
here’s a mix that attempts to cover our collective existential dread in a veil of musical whimsy. enjoy the beauty you can find and revel in life’s absurdities because if nothing matters why wouldn’t you?

luv455 Outside The Lines

Outside The Lines

a small sliver of jazz from the decade spanning 1947 to 1956. a time where jazz musicians started coloring outside the lines, pushing traditional forms to explore sonic terrains creating new styles and harmonic theories in the post-bop era. whether it be expanding the palette of big band or experimenting with rhythms and chord changes or just plain old jaw-dropping virtuoso playing, these cats were feeling out the new sounds. by coloring outside the lines these musicians expanded the boundaries of what jazz is and became the solid foundation for the next wave of jazz giants to build upon.
